| Therapists | | | Stephen Murphy, MS, PT, OMT, Program Director
Steve is currently the Program Director of Cooley Dickinson's Center for Human Motion and the Director of Rehab Services. He has been a physical therapist for 32 years and also has a master's degree in exercise physiology and is a certified orthopedic manual therapist. Prior to relocating back to New England, he was in private practice in the Pittsburgh, PA, / Northern West Virginia area for close to 20 years. Prior to that, he was the Director of Physical Therapy at West Virginia University Medical Center and Assistant Professor at West Virginia University School of Medicine.

| | | Andrea Noel-Doubleday, PT, MPH, Physical Therapist Supervisor
Andrea graduated from the University of Vermont with a B.S. in Physical Therapy in 1994. She has worked in a wide variety of settings including inpatient acute care hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, and outpatient clinics. She specializes in orthopedics and sportsmedicine and has advanced training in spinal mobilization. In 2004 Andrea received her Masters Degree in Public Health from UMASS Amherst with an emphasis in practice management. She joined the rehabilitation department at Cooley Dickinson Hospital in September of 2009 as the supervisor of physical therapy services. Andrea is an avid runner. She participates in local races and has run the Boston Marathon twice. | | |

Angela Mansolillo, MA/CCC-SLP, BRS-S, is a
Speech-Language Pathologist and Board Recognized
Specialist in Swallowing Disorders. She
received her Master of Arts from the University
of Connecticut and is currently a Senior Speech-
Language Pathologist at Cooley Dickinson
Hospital in western Massachusetts. In addition
she serves as adjunct faculty and clinical
supervisor at Elms College. Angela has over 20
years of experience and has worked in a variety
of clinical settings, including outpatient, critical
care settings, long term care, and pediatrics. She
serves as guest lecturer at several colleges and
universities throughout Massachusetts on a
regular basis and provides numerous national
presentations in the area of dysphagia. | | |
| | | Betsy Yount, MSPT, Physical Therapist
Betsy earned her B.S. in Physical Therapy from the University of Lowell and her MS in orthopedics from Massachusetts General Hospital. She is currently working toward certification in integrated manual therapy and diagnostics through the Center for Integrated Manual Therapy in Bloomfield, CT.
Betsy lives locally with her husband and two children where she is very active volunteering in the community. She has practiced life long fitness and well-being through organized sports and yoga and embraces this in her treatments. | | |

Carl Nearey graduated magna cum laude from Hunter College in NYC with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy in 1999. He has 10 years experience in Outpatient Orthopedics, Joint Replacement, and Acute Inpatient Care. He attends yearly continuing education courses and has special interest in treatment of the knee and shoulder. | | |

Christie grew up and did her early school in the Midwest. She graduated magna cum laude from Millikin University, where she received a B.S. in biology; she received her B.S. and Certificate in Physical Therapy from Northwestern University Medical School, Programs in Physical Therapy.
She continued with her formal education and received her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Mass General Hospital-Institute for Health Professions in 2008. Throughout her professional career, she has continued to take various continuing education courses. She enjoys working with the musculoskeletal/orthopedic patient population, but maintains a general type of case load.
Christie has two grown children who are still in the North East. She enjoys most sports related activities and participates in both outdoor and indoor sport activities including following and cheering on her favorite team, the St. Louis Cardinals, which can be a little tricky in the North East.

| | | Christine Sharkey, Physical Therapist, Pediatric Coordinator
Christine Sharkey received her physical therapy degree from Vienna, Austria and after working in Switzerland for 10 years, moved to Massachusetts in 1979. She has been working at the Cooley Dickinson Hospital since 1989.
Throughout her career Christine has participated in numerous continuing education courses.
She developed pediatric clinics in physiatry, orthopedics and podiatry with local specialists that continue to provide comprehensive pediatric services for children in our area. Certifications and specialty trainings include NDT (Neurodevelopmental treatment) certification, Yoga for the special needs child, Yoga for scoliosis, Yoga Teacher Training certification, Advanced Pediatric Kinesio Taping and certification in the Schroth Method for treatment of scoliosis in children and adults.
Special interests also include treatment of scoliosis and other postural dysfunctions, neuromuscular problems and pediatric ankle/ foot problems.

| | | Colette Fellows, OTR/L, Occupational Therapist, Supervisor
Colette Fellows earned her Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from the University of New England in Biddeford, ME. Colette has worked as the OT supervisor at Cooley Dickinson since 1999. Her special interests are in Acute Care, Geriatrics, neurological disorders and work related injury prevention. Colette began her career in 1988.
Colette has worked in a variety of settings,including acute care hospitals, rehab facilities, home care outpatient facilities, as well as nursing homes and contracted rehabilitation. She has been the clinical instructor and point person for the Occupational Therapy student program. She has been the rehab representative on several committees including employee safety and changing the environment of the hospital to a no lift facility. She has done several community educational talks on arthritis and joint protection, and has been involved with several community health fairs. | | |

Dianne earned her physical therapy degree at the University of Vermont and a Master's degree in Education and Management at George Mason University. She specialized in neurologic and orthopedic rehabilitation in Washington, D.C. for 12 years before returning to the area in 1999. She currently enjoys working in the inpatient setting with the interdisciplinary team helping those with a variety of medical and surgical conditions. Her leisure interests include yoga, hiking and kayaking and sharing outdoor life with her husband and son.

| | | Jennifer Johndrow, MEd, PT, OCS, Physical Therapist
Jennifer Johndrow PT graduated from Northeastern University in Boston in 1994 Summa Cum Laude with a BS in Physical Therapy. She graduated first in her class in the Bouve College of Pharmacy and Allied Health. Three years later she graduated from Cambridge College with a Masters in Education. She has worked at Cooley Dickinson Hospital since 1996, at the hospital site and most of the satellite offices, in acute care, and in the Joint Replacement Center.
Jennifer has pursued continuing education courses in areas of the spine, ergonomics, and orthopedics; and she also has an interest in neurological conditions. She has completed the coursework to prepare her to take the certification exam for McKenzie Diagnosis and Therapy, and plans to take the Orthopedic Clinical Specialist exam in 2010.
Jennifer is married with 3 children, is involved in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, and enjoys participating in sprint triathlons.

| | | Karen Kelley, MS, OTR/L, CLT, Occupational Therapist
Karen Kelley graduated from the State University of New York at Buffalo with a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy, then received a Master of Science degree in Rehabilitation Administration from Southern Illinois University. She worked at Cooley Dickinson Hospital in the early '80s in Northampton, MA. and in a variety of settings treating the head injured, neurologically impaired, mentally ill, and people with burns and orthopedic injuries while in Southern Illinois, Montana, and Missouri.
In St. Louis, she worked at BarnesCare, as a hand therapist in the acute, work-conditioning and work-hardening programs. Karen taught at Washington University, and presented on work-hardening at the American Occupational Therapy Association Conference in 1993. While working for St. Louis University, at the Pain Management and Work Hardening Center, she was responsible for the first successful CARF accreditation in the region for the Work Hardening program.
Karen returned to Northampton, MA as coordinator for Occupational Therapy in regional nursing homes. She returned to Cooley Dickinson in 1998, working with both in-patients and out-patients. After studying in Devon, England she was certified in M.L.D-C.D.T. for the treatment of Lymphedema by the Dr. Vodder School. With these skills she works with patients who have had cancer, or orthopedic injuries resulting in lymphedema. Recently, Karen has been re-certified in Stowe, VT to continue working with these patients. She is preparing to take the certification exam for hand therapy.
Karen is an avid skier, and is a ski patroller at Butternut in Great Barrington, MA and enjoys swimming and biking. | | |

Kathy has been an Occupational Therapist for 30 years and has worked at Cooley Dickinson since 1987. She graduated from the University of New Hampshire, Durham. Prior to working at CDH, she worked in several in-patient and out-patient facilities in the area.
She now enjoys working, growing, and changing with the many aspects of OT, especially in the areas of ergonomics, preventing injuries, and working with patients post-injury.
In her spare time, she loves traveling, gardening, playing with her dogs and cats, hiking, biking, and really just about anything outside. | | |
| | | Laurie Korza, MA/CCC-SLP, Speech-Language Pathologist
Laurie Korza received her Master's Degree in Speech/Language pathology from the University of Massachusetts/Amherst in 1984. Before coming to Cooley Dickinson Hospital, she had worked with adults in inpatient acute, inpatient sub-acute, outpatient, and day rehabilitation settings. She has experience in managing multidisciplinary rehabilitation departments at the facility level, as well as, managing speech services at the regional level. Laurie has a special interest in neurological speech, language and cognitive/linguistic impairments resulting from CVA, Traumatic Brain Injury and progressive disease processes. As a result of that interest, Laurie instituted a monthly Stroke Support Group run through CDH. Additionally, she is experienced in providing swallow treatment, and voice treatment as a result of vocal misuse, Paradoxical Vocal Fold Movement, and organic pathologies of the voice. Being a Florence native, Laurie is committed to providing quality treatment in the community in which she was born, raised and currently lives. She has worked at Cooley Dickinson Hospital for the past 6 years. She is a member of ASHA and is licensed in the Massachusetts. | | |
| | | Lisa McCutcheon, OTR/L, Occupational Therapist
Lisa graduated from University of Wisconsiin with a Bachelors of Science Degree in 1984. With her 25 years of experience, Lisa has had the opportunity to work with a variety of age populations from pediatric to geriatric and in many settings including skilled nursing facilities, rehab centers, mental health clinics, home care and school systems. The majority of her career has focused on the general rehab population including spinal cord, oncology, orthopedic, stroke and other neurologic diagnoses such as multiple sclerosis and parkinsons.
Lisa received a speciality certification in lymphedema in 2002 and has since that time expanded on her manual lymphatic drainage skills through continued education in this area. In addition to her clinical practice, Lisa enjoys being a guest lecturer on rehab topics at area colleges. At CDH, Lisa works with the acute medical population and in outpatient lymphedema. | | |

Maureen etchells graduated from the University of Connecticut in Storrs, CT with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy in 1978. She has worked in various settings including acute care, skilled nursing facilities/long term care, and home care. She currently focuses on patients in the acute care setting with a variety og diagnoses.
She has a special interest in the geriatric population and earned her geriatric clinical specialist certificate in 2008. | | |

Patricia finished her training as a physical therapist at the University Clinic in Hamburg, Germany, in 1983. She came to the United States in 1989 and earned a Masters in Public Health (with a focus on Epidemiology) at UMass Amherst in 1998. Her interest in orthopedics lead her to countless continuing education courses over the years. Patricia is credentialed in the McKenzie method. Patricia received certification as a vestibular rehab specialist at Emory University, a program endorsed by the APTA, in 2003. | | |
| | | Ross Bell, MSPT, Physical Therapist
Ross graduated from Lehigh University in 1993 with a Batchelor of Arts in Psychology and graduated from Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions with a Masters of Science in Physical Therapy in 1997. He started his career working on the North Shore of Boston in a neuro day rehab program where he helped patients recover from stroke, spinal cord injury, amputations and brain injuries while also treating people with balance disorders and treating the general orthopedics population.
Ross moved to the Pioneer Valley in 2002 and has been working at Cooley Dickinson Hospital since 2005. His practice now consists of rehabilitating people with orthopedic injuries in addition to being part of the neuro-rehabilitation team. He enjoys helping his clients maximize their potential for achieving active and healthy lifestyles.
Since moving to the Valley, Ross has enjoyed exploring the awesome mountain biking trails in the area. He also enjoys cross country skiing, hiking, racquetball and vegetarian cooking.

Susan has worked at Cooley Dickinson since 1999. She earned my undergraduate degree from Connecticut College in 1979 and her Masters from Boston University in 1981. She has been a Speech Pathologist for 28 years, and has worked in acute care, rehabilitation, and skilled nursing facilities in the Northeast and in Oregon. Her clinical specialty areas are adult swallowing dysfunction (including fluoroscopic evaluation of the swallow in conjunction with radiologists); voice disorders and adult neurological deficits due to stroke and TBI. Susan has enjoyed being a part of CDH and helping the Speech Pathology Program grow for both inpatient and outpatient care of children and adults in our community. | | |

Susan Rigali is a certified Speech-Language Pathologist who holds a Master's of Arts degree in Communication Disorders from the University of Massachusetts. Susan has worked in the field of speech pathology for nearly twenty years and specializes in swallowing and adult neurologic disorders. Additional areas of expertise include treatment of aphasia and cognitive impairment. She has worked extensively with adults in an interdisciplinary day program focusing on functional communication and cognitive skills for return to home and community. She offers innovative treatment for oral motor speech disorders and apraxia of speech. | | |

| | | Tom Murphy, MS, OTR/L, ATP, Occupational Therapist
Tom Murphy has worked at Cooley Dickinson Hospital since 1995. He received a Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy from Springfield College in 1994, with a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study (CAGS).
Following a course of study in art and furniture design as an undergraduate, he worked for 12 years as a rehab engineer, designing equipment for the disabled. He published extensively on his design work, and several designs are still in production today.
He has continued his involvement with wheelchairs and adaptive equipment, running an active wheelchair and equipment clinic at Cooley Dickinson. Children and adults receive evaluations and recommendations for equipment, as required for insurance reimbursement. He is a certified Assistive Technology Provider (ATP).
Tom also works extensively as a pediatric therapist, working with children with sensory motor difficulties, and is active in training for pre-school teachers on motor development and play with children from 3-5 years of age. He also consults with the Children's Physiatry Clinic on splinting for children.
Tom also enjoys working with adults, and fills in as needed for inpatient care and in the joint replacement center.

Gail Hegeman, MS, OTR/L, CHT, CEAS has been a certified hand therapist since 1999 and has worked at CDH since 2000. Prior to that, she practiced in return-to-work centers, hospitals and private practice settings. In addition, Gail is a Certified Ergonomic Specialist and provides lectures in various settings regarding both hand and ergonomic topics. She specializes in managing work-injury prevention programs.

Julie holds a Master's of Arts Degree from Temple University/Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She has experience working with a multidisciplinary team in acute care and rehabilitation inpatient centers, skilled nursing facilities, early intervention, adult home care, public schools and outpatient clinics. She has worked with adults and pediatrics. Currently, she is attending Westfield State College to become a Board Certified Behavioral Analyst (BCBA).

Ed Kostek is a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Massachusetts Lowell receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Physiology and Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy. Dr. Kostek is a former adjunct faculty member of Greenfield Community College and currently holds an adjunct position in the graduate department of Physical Therapy at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. Ed has received his American Board of Physical Therapy Specialty (APTA/ABPTS) certification in orthopedics, being 1 of approximately 100 board certified orthopedic clinical specialists within the state of Massachusetts. Special interests in Physical Therapy include manual therapy, shoulder and knee injuries, and temporomandibular joint dysfunction. In his spare time, Ed is a freelance musician and is a clinical director for Special Olympics Massachusetts' Fun Fitness healthy athletes program. | | |

Alicia Estes Ziegler is a certified Speech-Language Pathologist, who graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Montevallo and holds a Masters of Arts degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Ohio University. She completed a Clinical Fellowship at Clarke School for the Deaf and specializes in aural (re)habilitation for both children and adults who utilize hearing aids and cochlear implants. Additional areas of expertise include: facilitating language and social skills in children with Autism spectrum disorders who are both verbal and non-verbal; facilitating expressive and receptive language skills; supporting children with auditory processing deficits; providing social skill group treatment sessions; and facilitating articulation skills in the presence of oral motor speech disorders including Dysarthria and Apraxia of Speech. Alicia participates in yearly continuing education courses, which have included focus areas such as the DIR Floortime approach, behavioral approaches to language intervention, sensory integration techniques, aural rehabilitation and Augmentative and Alternative forms of communication. In her down time, she enjoys taking scenic bike rides and playing the mandolin. | | |

Jane is a graduate of Springfield Technical Community College 1979 Associate of Science in Allied Health- Physical Therapist Assistant
She has been a practicing PTA for 30 years. She has had an outpatient orthopedics focus since 1983. She has had hand therapy experience under the mentoring of Carol Stoddard, OT,CHT from 1989-1994. Jane has been employed by CDH since February of 1997. She is a Certified Vodder Lymphedema Therapist since 1998, with national certification through the Lymphology Association of North America since 2001, specializing in manual lymph drainage/swelling reduction through combined decongestive therapy. She has done coursework in other manual therapies including Cranio-Sacral Therapy, Myofascial Release, and soft tissue mobilization.

Lisa Kokoski graduated from the University of Massachusett's Isenberg School of Management with a bachelors degree in Sport Management in 2005. She then entered into the Physical Therapist Assistant program at Springfield Technical Community College where she graduated in 2007. Her first job was at a busy outpatient clinic specializing in orthopedics and manual therapy. She came to Cooley Dickinson Hospital in September of 2008 in hopes of gaining experience in a larger, more diverse environment.
Lisa enjoys watching and participating in most sports, including softball, basketball, tennis, and golf. She also enjoys working out, cooking and reading in her spare time.

Lynn earned her Associates of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from Springfield Technical Community College. She is a Certified and Licensed Occupational Therapy Assistant here at CDH and has been for 4 years.
Previously, Lynn started her career at Hampshire Regional School district working with preschool - elementary aged children with a special interest in autism. Lynn started at CDH as a per diem pediatric therapist and quickly expanded her skills to include acute care and outpatient therapy wortking with a registered Occupational Therapist. Lynn is always adapting equipment or activities so that her patients are able to continue to do the things that are important to them and live life to the fullest. | | |
